The Early Life of Mathys Tels

Mathys Tel was born in metropolitan France in April 2005 Tel is a Christian of Guadeloupean descent. As a child, Tel played in the defence as a centre-back before eventually turning into a forward player. Furthermore, His talents saw him play for a host of young sides and attract the attention of sportswear giants Nike before moving to Germany.

Mathys Tel graduated from the Rennes youth academy to sign his professional contract for the club. Tels made his senior professional debut in a 1-1 Ligue 1 tie with Brest on 15 August 2021. His debut against Brest made him the youngest player to officially play for Rennes. Tel broke the previous record held by Eduardo Camavinga.

Tel also regularly featured for the Rennes B side, His time with the B side was prolific, scoring 6 goals in 6 appearances for the team. However, his time with the Rennes senior team was less eventful playing only 7 matches without scoring a single goal.

However, Mathys Tel showed a lot of promise with his performances which saw a lot of clubs scramble for his signature. On the 26 of July 2022, Tel left Rennes to sign for German giants Bayern Munich for €28.5 million and other bonuses.

Mathys Tel: Bayern Munich’s Youngest Ever Goalscorer

Tel made his Bundesliga debut in a 6-1 away win over Eintracht Frankfurt on 05 August 2022, coming on as a sub for Serge Gnabry. Later that month, Mathys Tel scored his first goal for Bayern Munich in a 5–0 win over Viktoria Koln in the DFB-Pokal.
