The Early Life of Mara Alber

Mara was born in 2005 in Brackenheim, Germany. Her love for football was evident at a young age and her talent was instantly recognizable from a very young age.

Her prodigious talent and playing style saw her join her local side in Dürrenzimmern at the local multi-sport club Turn- und Gesangsverein Dürrenzimmern. She later went on to play for several youth teams until signing for Hoffenheim.

Her journey through the youth ranks continued after she joined VfB Eppingen. She proceeded to play for the club for three years. Afterwards, she left to play for FC Astoria Walldorf from 2019 to 2020 and played for SpVgg Neckarelz from 2020 to 2021.

Senior Career

After leaving SpVgg at the age of 15, Mara rejoined TSG 1899 Hoffenheim playing for the B team in the 2. Frauen-Bundesliga from 2021 to 2023. She made her senior debut in the home game 4-1 against SV Henstedt-Ulzburg on the opening matchday of the 2021-22 2. Frauen-Bundesliga season.

Mara’s first senior goals came in that match scoring twice to make it 2:1 and 4:1 in the match. She had an impressive first season as she finished with 7 goals from 18 games in the 2021-22 season. During the 2022-23 season, She also scored 7 goals for TSG 1899 Hoffenheim II.

Mara Alber’s debut came during the 2022-23 season for the first TSG 1899 Hoffenheim senior side on 3 April 2022 in the 3-0 away win against Bayer 04 Leverkusen. She came on as a substitute for Tine De Caigny in the 89th minute.

International career

Mara Alber started her international career with the youth teams of the German national side. She made her international debut for the U15 national team in a 5-nil victory against the Swiss U15 side in 2019. Her first international goal came later that year in a 3-1 win against the Belgian U15.

Mara was called up to the German U17 squad participating in the European Women U17 Championship held in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The competition featured the likes of Vicky Lopez and Signe Gaupset.

However, she enjoyed some individual success as she won the Bronze Ball at the competition.

Mara Alber was also part of the German national team that featured in the European Women’s U19 Championship held in Belgium, in 2023. She scored two goals to help push her team to the final where they lost 3-2 to Spain on penalties after the game remained goalless after 120 minutes.

Reaching the semi-final of the competition meant Mara and her teams qualified for the FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup scheduled to be held in Colombia in 2024. Mara is yet to receive a call-up to the Die Nationalelf, however, Mara’s performances suggest a call-up is not too far away.
